About

Here is the page where I tell you a little about myself. Since I know you’re probably busy, lemme just give you the highlights:

• I was born in New Jersey, raised in Florida, started my family in Austin Texas, lived for a time in Portland, Oregon, and now reside in Costa Rica. Unless you’re looking to confuse me, or to hear a really long story, asking me where I’m from is probably a mistake.

• I have worked in a number of industries, including education, insurance, and photography, before finally deciding that I preferred working with people like me.
  
• Oh yeah, that’s another thing:I found out that I’m ADHD in May of 2021. I was pushed to finally verify this thanks to amazing insights from creators like ADHDActually and How to ADHD, and I wanted to pay it forward to others. Talking about ADHD a lot turned slowly-but-also-quickly into me wanting to help people with ADHD to realize that they’re not “lazy” and they don’t “just need to try harder.” So I wound up going from Mommy Blogger to ADHD Advocate to ADHD Advocate and Coach Who Makes Fun of Other Things Every Once in Awhile.
  
• I’ve since gone on to write about ADHD quite a bit, and make tools that I hope will help those who need it, whether they work with me personally or not.

• My influences vary wildly, from Stephen King to Allie Brosh to Jon Ronson to David Thorne . My sense of humor could be described as “Kurt Vonnegut-esque,” though I have yet to finish a book of his because my kids won’t let me.

• I was married once before. I am Black. I am a woman. I am neurodivergent. I am a parent. I am bisexual. These things will come up from time to time because I like to be honest about things. So sometimes I am serious for a few minutes.

• Swearing is my favorite pasttime. I insert the word “fuck” into gatherings. If this vexes you, don’t worry; it vexes my mother, too.
